Ata Rangi Martinborough Pinot Noir 2006/2007
The Martinborough region produces wines of more subtlety than the fruitier style of Central Otago and this is a wine with finesse. A very low yielding vintage and wonderfully warm early summer has delivered a structured, deeply sumptuous, velvet-textured Pinot Noir. This is a serious, cellar worthy Pinot. Showing rich cherry stone and delicately spiced ripe plum characters, with fine tannins running evenly across the entire palate. Sweet spice and vanilla oak, recognisable as separate components when the wine is young, will merge into a seamless whole if this wine is allowed to cellar for 5 to 6 years.
