A couple of years ago in a reactionary piece of marketing, the French wine marketing board ran an advertising campaign claiming that Australia had the wrong climate and soil to produce great Pinot Noir.  Well, they would have been right if the Aussies were trying to grow the grape in the Barossa Valley.  In fact, as these wines show, if you pick the right area in Australia such as the cool maritime climate of the Mornington Peninsula or the Yarra Valley, you can pick up a super, unique wine at a great price.
