Schramsberg Blanc de Noirs 2005

Schramsberg were the first to make Champagne-method wines in California and their experience and expertise shows; this wine is described by Hugh Johnson as ‘outstanding’ in his latest guide..
Blanc de Noirs means ‘white of blacks’, that is a white wine made with black grapes (by the exclusion of the skins in the winemaking process).  This results in a wine that shows off Pinot Noir’s strawberry character, this wine has added complexity with honeyed characters on the nose and nectarine and orange notes and refreshing acidity on the finish.
