Waterstone Carneros Pinot Noir 2006
A great value Pinot from the USA. As a child, Philip Zorn knew he was going to be a winemaker, indeed he tried to ferment the plums his mother gave him for lunch. Now Philip Zorn and Brent Shortridge (the other half of Waterstone) are seriously well connected in the Californian wine trade and have obtained fruit parcels from some legendary estates – the names remain a closely-guarded secret but by tasting the wines, the Californian Connoisseur will possibly be able to hazard a guess at specific region, maybe even vineyard!
Dark plums, cherry, cola and leather are present in this wine’s aroma. The soft vanilla tones from the oak blend perfectly with the intense fruit core and soft tannins, providing complexity and balance and leading to a lingering finish.
